Quit Talking, Begin Doing

When you think of Walt Disney, you probably think of unbridled imagination, creativity, and stories. While these are undoubtedly part of Disney’s ethos, it took much more than imagination to bring those beloved films to life. In fact, one of my very favorite productivity quotes is by Disney himself:

“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” - Walt Disney

As an entrepreneur with multiple businesses (including eight rental properties) and three very active kids, I’ve learned that I have to take quick action to get things done.

However, this hasn’t always been the case. I used to get really overwhelmed by where to start with projects.

I wanted it to be perfect and would spend so much time in the planning and preparation stage that to anyone looking, I was just stuck and not doing anything.

But what I realized is that wasn’t getting me anywhere. Sure, maybe I would fail, but I needed to take that first step, or I would never get anywhere.

If you’re scared to start, start small.

Write out your vision, create your ideal client, and then for your first step…tell someone what you’re going to do. Put it out into the world!

If you’ve already done that, set one goal and write out small manageable tasks to get there, and start by doing one task each day.

Just take action!
